Locate a Moving Truck Rental
Locate a moving truck rental may not be as difficult as
people think that it is. Hiring a moving truck company to do all
your moving for you isn't cheap; it is for this reason that people
opt to rent a truck and do the moving themselves. The first step in
this process is to figure out what kind of truck you will need for
your move.
It is by far much cheaper to go the do-it-yourself (DIY) way when
you are planning a move. When you rent a truck, you get to decide
what sort of packing supplies you will use, how you will stack your
belongings in the truck and more importantly you get to drive
yourself to your new home. This may act as a positive or as a
negative mainly because most ordinary people are not experienced
truck drivers and this is why it is of utmost importance that one
acquires as much information as possible for the type of truck that
they will need.
Truck rental companies offer a variety of trucks for renting to
their clients. These range from pick –up trucks to trucks that are
between 28 to 30 feet long. Size is very important when renting a
truck; you do not want to rent a truck only to discover at the last
minute that it is too small to fit all your belongings. This is why
it is important to consult with the experts at the
moving company
because they are more experienced in this area and can therefore
make better estimations of what size of truck you will need
depending of course on the number of goods that you want to
transport.
According to the experts, the largest truck available is large
enough to comfortably move an average 4 -bedroom home. For 2 to 3
bedroom homes, the 14-foot to 24-foot trucks should be sufficient.
Apartments and 1-bedroom homes can use the 10-foot to 14-foot trucks
during a move.
Another thing to consider when picking a moving truck is whether it
comes with a ramp or a lift. These come in very handy when lifting
and lowering heavier items to and from the moving truck. Depending
on the moving company, other accessories like dollies, hand trucks,
protective covers, boxes and straps may be available. However, the
availability of these accessories means that you will have to pay a
little extra towards the renting of the truck.
Keep in mind also that one way rentals differ from those that offer
a round trip service. One way rentals are often used in interstate
or long distance moves. Companies that are located in more than one
state are more likely to offer one way rental services than those
that are not.
You will find that the different moving companies will have
different requirements when it comes to renting their trucks. Some
will require the driver to be at least 18 years old while others
have a minimum age limit of 25. But on a whole, the requirements of
renting a truck are almost similar across the board.
Finding a moving truck is not that difficult, just keep these points
in mind and you are bound to find what you are looking for. Always
compare quotes from different companies to find the best deal for
yourself.
